Bio
Casey Randazzo, a first-generation U.S. citizen and college graduate, started her education studying communication at Raritan Valley Community College in 2009. In 2011, Casey transferred to Cornell University where she gained exposure to digital platform research during her time as a Research Assistant in Cornell's Social Media Lab. In 2013, Casey graduated from Cornell University with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in the Department of Communication in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS).

After graduating, Casey spent the next 9 years working in communication and digital marketing roles for health and education companies (e.g., Johnson and Johnson, Pearson, John Wiley and Sons). During that time, Casey completed her Master's in Communication at Rutgers University and went on to pursue a Ph.D. in Communication and Information Science at Rutgers in 2021.

Casey's research uses a mix of computational (e.g., networks, natural language processing) and qualitative (e.g., in-depth interviewing, observational) methods. She leverages theories from interpersonal (e.g., disclosure), and social networks (e.g., social support, collective action) scholarships. Casey works closely with both Prof., Dr. Marya Doerfel and Dr. Tawfiq Ammari focusing on the role of computer-mediated communication in recovering from individual-level (e.g., intimate partner violence, sexual assault) and community-level trauma (e.g., environmental disasters).
